Jazz in the Gardens 2009 a HUGE Hit!

Still recouping from a PHENOMENAL Jazz in the Gardens weekend in the beautiful city of Miami Gardens!

The weekend began on Friday with the VIP reception at the Seminole Hardrock Casino. I was fashionably late, as usual. When I arrived I was greeted by throngs of beautiful sun-kissed people.

With the sweet sounds of the live band’s jazz rendition of Waiting in Vain playing in the back, I felt at home. As I grabbed a glass of Pinot Grigio from the open bar and made my way through the swaying crowd, I spotted a few familiar faces. Effortless conversation ensued.

By the end of the evening, I was engaged in an impromptu photo shoot with the most beautiful women in the room.

Saturday and Sunday were spent at Dolphin Stadium, graciously hosted by The Fly Jock himself, Tom Joyner.

The shows went off without a hitch. With a line-up featuring - Erykah Badu, Common, Frankie Beverly & Maze, Angelique Kidjo, Kenny G, and Babyface to name a few, would you expect anything less?

My only complaint – the anal Security Nazis, as I call them. Talk about taking your job too seriously! They practically bum rushed the stage demanding fans return to their seats... and this was in the PRIME seating area.

Who ever heard of a seated audience during a Silly E. Badu concert? I was a bit perturbed, to say the least.

I was trying to get my dance on… trying to vibe with my peoples during Ms. Badu’s set! Instead, most were seated at the demand of the SN’s, content with nodding their heads. It’s a concert people, not a church service, Geez!

Sunday’s performance by the anal SN’s was much better. It’s seems someone informed them that the PRODUCTION itself was to be orchestrated, NOT the enjoyment of the audience. But, I digress.

Did some running around backstage with beautiful Bevvy of NYC. Love her! Fabulous girl, indeed.

The VIP or the Baller Section, as TJ called it, is where it was at! It was more of a “Mix and Mingler” than a sit and watch section. The beautiful people of south Florida showed off their latest flowy fashions and exchanged jovial conversation.

All and all, the weekend was a HUGE success by all accounts. The PR, Media and Marketing was handled by the fabulous Circle of One Marketing and Ms. Suzan McDowell.

CONGRATS goes out to everyone involved in Jazz in the Gardens 2009. Looking forward to an even better 2010! Mark your calendars!

Top FL Emergency Official to Lead FEMA

WASHINGTON, March 4 (Reuters) - U.S. President Barack Obama has decided to nominate Craig Fugate, the top emergency response official in Florida, to head the Federal Emergency Management Agency, the White House said on Wednesday.

"From his experience as a first responder to his strong leadership as Florida's Emergency Manager, Craig has what it takes to help us improve our preparedness, response and recovery efforts," Obama said in a statement.

"I'm confident that Craig is the right person for the job and will ensure that the failures of the past are never repeated," he said, an apparent reference to the botched federal response to Hurricane Katrina in New Orleans in 2005. [SOURCE]

Sounds good to me!

Score one for Florida! With all the hurricanes we get down here, Fugate should come equipped with the necessary experience and foresight.

No more FEMA mishaps, OK people?! Let’s get this one right next time... And there will be a next time.

MAC, The Greenest Family of Notebooks

The new MAC ad campaign focuses on how their new series of notebooks are just the greenest. Everyone’s capitalizing on the "Millennial state of mind," as I call it.... and I’m totally stoked about it.

As you recall from my Millennial post, we Millennials are the generation that will have the most impact moving forward. We are known to be:

o Tech Savvy
o Idealistic, Optimistic and Patriotic
o Value Diversity
o Environmentally Conscious

Essentially, all the characteristics that embody the MAC brand, so I predicate much success for them in the coming years. Well deserved, too.

Today, Apple Chief Operating Officer Tim Cook, currently at the helm of the company while CEO Steve Jobs is on hiatus for health reasons, announced desktop updates with a focus on energy efficiency.

All the new notebooks meet the requirements for Energy Star 5.0 certification, which will take effect this summer.
